Summer brings the sun shine and long-awaited heat but, hot summer days can unpleasantly surprise you and leave you without power.
There is a reason, and it’s actually pretty smart when you think about it — spicy, chilly hot foods make you sweat, which in turn helps you cool down faster.
It’s as simple as that!
Eating spicy foods works differently  it raises your internal temperature to match the temperature outside.
Your blood circulation increases, you start sweating and once your moisture has evaporated, you’ve cooled off
Scientists call the phenomenon “gustatory facial sweating,” because indeed you usually start sweating in the face first.
Even though eating spicy foods on a hot day isn’t the most pleasant for many people, it may be worth doing because after sweating it out you do actually cool down.

Raw fruits and vegetables

Besides precious vitamins and minerals, raw fruits and vegetables contain a high percentage of water which can help you avoid dehydration in the summer heat.

Lettuce, cucumbers, pumpkins, tomatoes, grapes, watermelon, melon, oranges will help to refresh and recharge the body with water, which is especially necessary in hot days.



Chrysanthemum Tea

For centuries the Chinese drink chrysanthemum tea because of its cooling properties. Chrysanthemum tea is very cooling and refreshing if  you serve it cold. This tea helps to shrink the body temperature, acting refreshing and is used to treat milder sunstroke.




May sound strange, but for the the summer heat is recommended to eat hot and spicy food. The peoples of Africa, India and other parts of Asia make it hundreds of years. Angry food makes us sweating, improves circulation and stimulates the natural healing mechanism of the body. Although it seems paradoxical, however chili will still cool you .


Frozen Yogurt

A healthy alternative to ice cream, frozen yogurt will cool and refresh you better than ice cream. Yogurt contains less sugar and it’s easy to digest,  so it is an excellent food for summer. Combine with cold fruit to get a double dose of refreshment.


Cold soups

Almost every nation has its own version of cold soup. In summer, cold soups are the perfect meal because it easily digestible, refreshing and moisturizing. The world’s most famous soup  is Spanish gazpacho soup  made of tomato (which is served cold), then other example is borscht soup, okroshka vegetables Russian soup ,vichyssoise Hungarian fruit soup and American soup of potatoes and leeks.



Mint has cooling properties for which is particularly useful during the summer heat, you can add it to salads, stews and soups, juices, lemonade and green tea.


Avoid alcohol

Glass of cold beer or martini, seems like an ideal solution to summer heat but doctors do not agree with it. When the outside is hot, your body is more fluid to be cooling. Alcohol contributes to dehydration of the body and therefore should drink lots of water and no alcohol , so the body has enough water to cool. Besides that alcohol increases blood pressure.

Drink water because water is the right solution for cooling!!!


Recommendations of Ayurveda

If you skip a meal it is not recommended, because to avoid exhaustion of the summer you will need carbohydrates. Eat smaller meals rich in carbohydrates such as potatoes and pasta with vegetables. Avoid foods that contain a lot of protein or fat, because it is difficult to digest and can raise body temperature.

Cooling food :

butter, cheese, milk, coconut oil and sunflower seeds, brown sugar,  maple syrup,beans, chickpeas, lentils, soybeans, cabbage, carrot,cauliflower, cucumber, celery, lettuce, potatoes, spinach, pumpkins, apples, bananas, coconuts, dates, figs, grapes, melon, pear, bars and white rise.

Food that warms you:

meat, fish, eggs, honey, red lentils, beets, onions, tomato, peach, orange, buckwheat, almonds, peanuts, nutmeg, radishes, millet…
